Beyond that,,, Solar and Wind power offering enough energy to keep a residential dwelling is still in its infancy. The costs are still prohibitively expensive for one thing. The land alone, needed for arrays of both technologies would have to be substantial; and the zoning to have Windmills at least; might be an issue.

Certainly the thought is valid, yet we still live in a Crude Oil based society. More money is spent on exploration of what fuels are left underground; than what we spend at the gas pumps. That’s likely to be the focus for the balance of my lifetime I’m sure.

I do applaud you however; for NOT using the trendy new term “Off The Grid”. I think if I hear that one more time, I’ll eat a tree.

Of course there are modest Enviro friendly things you can do, but unless you’re CONNECTED; I suspect funding for a “TEST” dwelling might take years to get.
